Martyn's Law

In 2025 the government are intending to pass 'The Terrorism Protection of Premises' bill, also known as Martyn's Law. This legislation will aim to enhance public protection and was developed following the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017. The legislation will mean that any public premises that have the capacity to hold 200+ persons, will require a prepared planned response to a terrorist attack and ensure staff are trained to be able to respond appropriately. There will be two tiers - 'Standard tier' and 'Enhanced tier'. 'Standard tier' is intended for venues  and events with a capacity of 200+ individuals. 'Enhanced tier' is intended for venues and events with a capacity of 800+ individuals. The bill is intended to be passed by Parliament at some point in 2025. Details will be clearer once the legislation is passed and how the roll out will be managed. Please find more information at - https://homeofficemedia.blog.gov.uk/2022/12/19/martyns-law-factsheet/
